Proanorexia websites: Good or bad?

Pro-Ana Websites

To some people, these websites comprise an understanding community of people that know what they're going through and can offer support and advice. Others think the websites encourage bad behaviour, and should be taken down. However, this would violate free speech (would it not?) and in most cases the websites are allowed to remain.

I'm not sure what I think about these websites. I have my own issues with food and weight, and really enjoy that I can go to these websites and talk to people that understand. More often than not, I am encouraged to get help or be safe.

Places like http://www.blue-dragonfly.org/aboutBDF.html and http://community.livejournal.com/proanorexia/ seem to be two pro-ana websites that focus less on dying-to-be-thin and more on coping with this obsession.

What's your take on such websites? Are they the bane of society, or a useful place where people that can't afford or don't want therapy can finally be heard?
